1. Garden Crew Leader (Full or Part Time)
The Golden Root Gardening Crew Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day garden maintenance at 15-20 high-end client sites including supervising a team of crew-members.

1. Garden Crew Leader (Full or Part Time)
The Golden Root Gardening Crew Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day garden maintenance at 15-20 high-end client sites including supervising a team of crew-members.
This is a position for a highly experienced gardener.
Responsibilities
- Establish familiarity with all client properties, knowing what maintenance is needed when.
- Create work/task schedules to ensure all client properties are expertly maintained.
- Train and manage crew of three people to carry out all garden maintenance, following the techniques and instructions provided by Jayne.
- Run morning crew meetings and evening equipment check-in meetings at Earth Care Farm in Charlestown, RI.
- Support crew members with a nurturing manner and invest in their continual education as outstanding gardeners.
- Provide crew members with clear instructions and timely feedback – both positive and constructive. Complete performance reviews.
- Be available to crews by phone when off site. Troubleshoot issues and step in to provide hands-on support as needed,
- Lead by example with high quality reliable work.
- Track employee hours per client property and appropriately record all receipts.
- Care for tools and vehicles. Ensure all tools are returned daily and monitor for when new tools or servicing are required.
- Ensure vehicles are organized and clean for safety and professional appearance.
- Occasionally shop for supplies and plants.
- Communicate with clients on site and via email or phone as needed.
- Provide Jayne with regular progress updates.
- Relay messages from clients, and any other time sensitive information, to Jayne in a timely fashion.
- Meet with Jayne to understand vision and desired techniques for each client site.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge and experience with organic garden maintenance – pruning, fertilizing, weeding, deadheading, harvesting, knowing when more plants are needed.
- A keen eye for fine gardening detail and a high standard for quality.
- A passion for continued learning about gardening and nature.
- Highly reliable and organized.
- Able to take instruction and willingness to ask questions in order to and execute the vision following Jayne’s methods and instructions.
- Hardworking and proficient with initiative to problem solve and improve efficiency.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and energetic disposition.
- Reliable vehicle.
- Comfortable with household pets.
- Strong Physical stamina
Hours
- The season will be from at least April 15-October 31 but may start earlier and end later.
- Full time hours are Monday through Friday 7:30-4:15pm
2. Garden Crew Member (Full or Part Time)
The Golden Root Gardening Crew Member will be responsible for assisting the crew leader in the day-to-day garden maintenance at 15-20 high-end client sites.
This is a position for an experienced gardener; Minimum 2 years field experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Arrive promptly at 7:30am each day prepared with hand tools, water, lunch,
sunscreen and anything else you personally need for the day - Be attentive to instructions provided by the crew leader
- Ask for clarity if instruction is unclear
- Support crew leader with the tasks of the day
- Care for tools and vehicles.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with organic garden maintenance – pruning, fertilizing, weeding, deadheading, harvesting, planting.
- Willingness to work both independently and on a team.
- A keen eye for fine gardening detail and a high standard for quality.
- A passion for continued learning about gardening and nature.
- Highly reliable and organized.
- Able to take instruction and willingness to ask questions in order to and execute the vision following crew leader's methods and instructions.
- Hardworking and proficient with initiative to problem solve and improve efficiency.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and energetic disposition.
- Reliable vehicle.
- Comfortable with household pets.
- Strong Physical stamina-- ability to lift 50 lbs and withstand working outdoors in both cold winter and hot summer temperatures.
